Cert in Computer Programming

The Java Programming certificate, offered by the Business and Computing Division, gives students a firm grounding in coding with Java, designing with objects and organizing data. It is not eligible for financial aid. The coursework supports continued study in computing and related majors and also helps students get ready for internships, practical projects and voluntary industry credentials. Students take a first Java course followed by either a second Java course or a data structures course. Students must earn at least a C in every course, and all of it must be taken on this campus. On finishing, students should be able to produce working Java classes with loops, branching and basic data structures. Students are encouraged to meet with a counselor at Orange Coast College to review course selections and sequencing so the plan fits their academic and career goals.
