BA/BS in Forestry

The Forestry major teaches students how forest ecosystems work biologically and physically, and how social, economic and operational forces shape forest policy and management. It carries accreditation from the national foresters' society and is offered at Corvallis. Students complete a core in biological, physical and social sciences plus professional forestry courses, then choose an option: Forest Management, Forest Operations Management, or Forest Restoration and Fire. Graduates learn to evaluate forest and watershed responses to disturbance, work with geospatial tools and surveying, inventory vegetation, analyze forestry investments, and carry out forest plans. Every student must also complete six months of satisfactory related employment, usually over two or more summers, which the College of Forestry evaluates. The option courses bring the program to the 180 credits needed for graduation.
