The Master of Natural Resources is a non-thesis professional degree for people who work in settings where natural resource problems cross several disciplines. Instruction is entirely online via Ecampus, though a few students pursue it while living near the university.
The curriculum has three parts: a core drawn from thematic areas, an area of emphasis, and a final capstone project. Rather than writing a thesis, students bring together concepts from the whole program in the capstone and apply them to a specific issue.
Graduates are expected to integrate thinking across disciplines, apply knowledge at several scales, design a study using suitable data collection and integrated analysis, follow sound methods and work ethics, and communicate clearly in oral, written and electronic formats.
