MA/MS in Anthropology

Oregon State University's applied anthropology graduate major prepares students to use anthropological ideas in work outside the classroom. It is delivered in Corvallis and leads to the MA or MS here, with a doctoral path under the same page. Master's students take core courses in cultural theory, statistical applications and research design. They then choose a twelve-credit specialization, such as archaeology, and add skills credits through internships or courses in another discipline. A thesis and a one-credit seminar finish the plan, and the credit totals range from forty-nine to fifty-five. The MA adds a second-language requirement at the level reached after two years of university study. Outcomes include producing original research, showing subject mastery, working ethically, and gaining practical experience applying anthropological methods.
