Overview

At Stanford, International Relations is an interdisciplinary major. Students examine how domestic, regional and global factors shape relations among actors on the world stage, and they build the skills to analyse the choices and challenges that arise there. The study of world politics draws on political science and economics, history and language. Attention goes to international security and political economy, as well as economic development and democratization. Every major must study abroad for a minimum of one quarter. The program prepares graduates for government and corporate careers and for graduate study in law and business, or in economics and political science. The degree is a Bachelor of Arts, and a minor and honors are also listed. Further program details are published in the Stanford Bulletin.
