MA/MS in Rehabilitation and Therapeutic Professions

The Master of Music Therapy is a graduate program in the School of Music at Purdue University Fort Wayne. It is aimed at students who want to deepen both the academic and the clinical sides of music therapy practice. Students examine several approaches and orientations within the discipline and read widely in current research and clinical literature. They then apply theory and evidence to real clinical work, with hands-on training in a range of settings supported by partnerships across the local community. The university is an accredited member of two professional bodies, one for music schools and one for music therapy, which bears on the standing of its music programs. Graduates are prepared to work as music therapists and to move further in their careers with a stronger grounding in research-informed practice. Study is built around linking what is learned in class with what clients need in the clinic.
