Cert in Public Health

The Public Health Certificate prepares students for entry-level jobs as public health workers, who help whole communities by coordinating efforts to stop diseases from spreading. Students study how chronic disease affects illness and death and what can be done to prevent it, catch it early and manage it. They also learn to design strategies that encourage healthier behavior and come to understand what a public health worker is responsible for. Courses are held on the West Boylston Street campus, with some at the Federal Street campus and the Southbridge location. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The program is organized over 2 semesters and totals 27 credits. Tuition is listed at $227 per credit for in-state students and $433 per credit for out-of-state and international students, and some programs carry extra program fees.
