AA/AS in Forestry

Forestry at Reedley College prepares students for beginning technician jobs in the field. The degree is an Associate of Science, and the program holds recognition from the Society of American Foresters dating to 2009. Students combine classroom study with extensive outdoor training in a 700-acre college forest and a streamside zone near the Kings River. Emphasis areas cover wildfire, wildlife, timber, and recreation in forests, and students can earn certifications that qualify them for many natural resources jobs. A summer work placement lasting five months is central to the design. The schedule follows the natural resources work season, and several fall classes are shortened so returning interns can still complete a full semester. Graduates may work for federal, state, and private employers, among them the Bureau of Land Management.
