Overview

One of the oldest sciences, mathematics splits mostly into theoretical and applied work. Practitioners add to what is known by uncovering principles or extending existing theory. They build models, directly or indirectly, to solve problems in many other disciplines, from commerce and the natural sciences to engineering, statistics and computing. Every major requirement has to be completed with a grade of C or P or better. Designed for transfer, this degree suits students heading to a CSU campus for a related bachelor's program. Completing it assures a place somewhere in the CSU system, though not at a chosen campus or in a chosen major, and it calls for Cal-GETC plus at least 60 transferable semester units, each passed with a C or better.
