MA/MS in Biomedical/Medical Engineering

SDSU's mechanical engineering department runs this master's degree in bioengineering. It works as a final professional credential for people headed into biotechnology and medical device companies, and it also prepares students who plan to go on to a doctorate. Applicants are expected to hold an engineering bachelor's degree and to be well grounded in physics and mathematics. Three tracks are available: biomechanics, biomaterials, and bioinstrumentation. Each student builds an individual plan with the bioengineering graduate adviser, combining a required core for the chosen track with other courses and electives. Those missing prerequisite knowledge may have to take additional classes, and these do not count toward the unit total the degree demands. Every course must be finished within six consecutive calendar years, counted from the date of first registration.
