MA/MS in Biomedical/Medical Engineering

This professional master's degree from Boston University's College of Engineering is meant for people who want to create new products for healthcare, medical devices, biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies. It focuses on practical leadership and advanced technical preparation rather than research alone. Students choose from technical electives and also complete a clinically oriented sequence on designing and developing biomedical products. Working beside leading clinicians, they watch for clinical needs that are not yet met, devise engineering responses, and look into the regulatory and commercial considerations around bringing them to patients. Stated learning goals include solving biomedical problems with math, science and engineering, understanding how engineering choices affect society worldwide, using current engineering tools in varied settings, communicating technical ideas to non-engineers and working effectively on project teams.
