PGCert in Communication Disorders Sciences and Services

A graduate certificate focused on augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) trains professionals to deliver AAC services to children, young people and adults whose communication needs are complex, in schools and community settings, as part of an interdisciplinary team. Participants take courses alongside concurrent field experiences, and gain practical command of recommended approaches to assessment and intervention. They learn to put AAC systems to work so that clients can reach opportunities in learning, social life and employment. Current SF State graduate students in speech-language pathology, special education or a related discipline can apply during their first semester of graduate study or afterward, by contacting their own degree program.
