Program details

Overview

The Culinary Arts degree is an applied associate program that trains students to work as cooks and apprentice chefs. Shorter occupational and technology certificates in the same field lead into it, and a pastry chef specialty degree sits beside it. Instruction covers how ingredients and drinks come together, how to run and look after commercial restaurant equipment, and the basics of leading a kitchen team. Learning happens in a modern culinary center with hands-on practice rather than lectures alone. Graduates look for work in restaurants, hotel kitchens, cafeterias, coffee shops, catering firms and other food service settings, and the certificates give an early credential on the way. Students who want a quicker route can begin with a certificate and later apply it to the degree. Full-time students complete the degree in four terms.
