Cert in Architectural Engineering Technologies/Technicians

The Architectural Design Technician certificate develops residential and commercial design skills for entry-level architectural work. Design studios are paired with courses in construction materials and building systems, giving students a broad base for drafting and design tasks. Learners practice creating and reading architectural drawings and selecting appropriate building materials and components. Students use design and analysis software to advance architectural projects from concept to working drawings. The program also covers architectural graphics, visualization, energy analysis, and materials and textiles. Graduates typically find work as designers and drafters at architectural and design-build firms, as well as in building materials supply. Some coursework may transfer toward a bachelor degree in architecture. Students gain experience translating design ideas into the detailed drawings that builders and inspectors rely on during construction.
