Cert in Mechanical Engineering Related Technologies/Technicians

This certificate gives beginners practical grounding in mechanical engineering technology and in manufacturing processes. It presents core ideas of mechanical engineering and prepares students for entry-level technician positions in engineering and associated industries. Students get experience with tools, machining, and the materials found in manufactured products. Other coursework covers electrical basics, mechanical and electrical skills, math preparation suited to engineering technology, and engineering design with three-dimensional CAD. Students measure and test with assorted instruments, then interpret what they find. Safe practice around machinery is a theme throughout the courses, and instructors expect careful technique, and learners operate equipment carefully while developing the meticulous habits employers expect from new technicians. Completers are able to handle routine technical tasks and keep growing their expertise once they are working.
