AA/AS in Education, General

Early Childhood Education is offered at Mendocino College. This transfer degree covers the lower-division foundations of teaching and caring for young children. Topics include teaching practice, curriculum, observation and assessment, how children grow and develop, and safe, healthy learning settings. The program spans 4 semesters of study at Mendocino College, a California community college. Class sessions are delivered by the college faculty, and the sequence is arranged so that a full-time student can progress steadily toward completion. Studying at a community college lets students begin with smaller classes and close contact with instructors while they settle on longer-term educational goals. As a transfer degree, it is designed to move students into the California State University system with priority junior standing, and it exempts completers from the college institutional requirements. Students should confirm details with a counselor.
