MA/MS in Special Education and Teaching

The Master of Arts in Teaching is aimed at professionals who hold a bachelor's degree in another field and now want to teach. The coursework concentrates on how to teach the subject knowledge a student already has. There are two tracks. The traditional track uses evening, Saturday and summer classes so students can keep working. The alternative track is for people already employed as teachers in the licensure area they seek, and it can be completed in four of five semesters. Certification is available in seven areas, including elementary, middle school, secondary, art, business and Spanish. Students complete more than 100 hours of clinical field experience and receive support for certification exams. Spalding is based in Louisville, Kentucky, and the program follows state approval standards for educator preparation. Its flexible scheduling is meant to fit around the demands of a working adult.
