BA/BS in History

History majors at St. John Fisher University study how events, ideas and cultures have shaped one another. The major starts with introductory courses in western and non-western civilization and in United States history. From that base, students may follow a general history major or pursue a concentration in social and cultural studies, political and economic studies, strategic, military and diplomatic studies, or leadership and applied history. Electives range from traditional topics to history seen through film, popular culture and gaming, and subjects such as food and culture. The program sits in the School of Arts and Sciences. Alumni have worked as teachers, lawyers, researchers, writers and government officials, and others have continued to graduate school or law school. A 3+3 pre-law option and a 4+1 teacher certification route are also listed.
