Education Sciences is a Bachelor of Arts in the College of Education, delivered by the School of Teaching and Learning. It does not lead to a teaching license. Instead it looks at the psychology, research and policy that underlie instruction, learning and professional growth in schools and communities. Students complete a core and then a specialization, which must be declared by the sixth semester. Seven options exist, including counseling and human services, early childhood studies, educational technology, disabilities in society and general studies. A minimum grade of C is needed in courses applied to the major. Majors attend colloquia, contribute to seminars and take part in experiential learning. The degree suits careers in government, non-profit or education settings, and graduate study, including work on policy, e-learning and accessibility.
