The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at the University of Florida is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The program centers on foundational questions that shape how we understand a field of inquiry, the world, and ourselves, approached mainly through conceptual analysis rather than empirical study.
Majors take core courses in subjects such as ancient Greek philosophy, modern philosophy, symbolic logic and theory of knowledge, and must earn a minimum grade of C in all major courses. A portion of the coursework must be completed at UF.
The training builds careful reasoning and persuasive communication, and graduates often move toward law school, business school, politics and research-oriented public sector roles. A philosophy minor is also available. The program is based on the Gainesville campus, and students complete university, college and major requirements together. Prospective applicants should consult the department and the undergraduate catalog for current course lists, specialization details and advising contacts before planning their studies.
