PhD in Civil Engineering

This doctoral program in civil engineering belongs to the civil and coastal engineering department at the University of Florida. The department grants the Ph.D. alongside two master's degrees, and the master's is also available to distance learners through a streaming video program. Doctoral candidates complete advanced research and a dissertation under faculty supervision. Study areas include hydrology and water resources, and the catalog lists concentrations such as transportation leadership and wetland sciences. Students can draw on graduate courses from several neighboring engineering departments, subject to approval by their supervisory committee, which also governs how credit is counted. Requirements common to all graduate degrees are set out in the university's graduate degrees section of the catalog. Degree requirements follow the university's graduate degrees section, and applicants should consult the department for current application details.
