PhD in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering

This doctorate in Electrical Engineering is a program centered on research, preparing students for advanced work at universities and research institutions, and for leading roles in industrial research, development and consulting. Students work with their major professors and dissertation committees on original topics in leading areas of electrical engineering, ending in a doctoral dissertation. Since Fall 2024 students can also choose a cancer-research concentration in AI and machine learning, developed by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering alongside the Moffitt Cancer Institute's machine learning group. Applicants should read the catalog entry for admission details. Prospective students should check the current graduate catalog for contacts, deadlines and delivery information, and confirm that the general graduate admission and English proficiency rules of the university are also satisfied before they apply to this major.
