MA/MS in Civil Engineering

The M.S.C.E. in Civil Engineering allows students to earn an advanced degree through coursework only or through a research thesis. Students need an accredited first degree in engineering or must complete a set of prerequisite engineering courses. The thesis option is research-oriented: the student writes an in-depth thesis on a subject relevant to civil engineering. Both paths prepare graduates for careers with government agencies, nongovernmental organizations and private firms involved in planning, design or policy. Concentrations include Engineering for International Development, Geotechnical, Materials and Water Resources. A bachelor's and master's pathway is also offered, and the catalog lists contacts and deadlines. Prospective students should check the current graduate catalog for contacts, deadlines and delivery information, and confirm that the general graduate admission and English proficiency rules of the university are also satisfied before they apply to this major.
