The Master of Education at the University of Washington Bothell prepares educators and community workers to act as change agents who question and dismantle inequitable systems, structures and policies. It serves people in classrooms as well as nonprofits, higher education, human resources and corporate teams. Students gain academic grounding in institutional inequity, justice-oriented transformation, leadership, and how people learn, with emphasis on voices and histories that have been silenced. The program is cohort based, so students learn alongside the same peers. Evening classes are delivered in a hybrid format or entirely online, and completion takes one to two years. Washington state employees may use a tuition exemption for many of the courses. Prospective students can attend information sessions and complete an interest form. The program rewards reflection on how one shows up in the world rather than offering ready-made answers to inequity.
