BA/BS in Economics

Economics at Valparaiso University teaches students to interpret data to understand human decisions. They work with analyzing data, generative AI, econometric models, and forecasts, guided by close faculty mentorship. The curriculum looks at how economic ideas apply to subjects like environmental issues, justice, health care, and the arts, and it considers the ethical questions raised by economic systems and policy choices. A liberal arts foundation supports the technical training. The department points to a positive job outlook for economists, and alumni have gone on to work in business roles and doctoral programs. Graduates are prepared to make informed decisions that affect businesses, communities, and economies. Prospective students can apply, request information, or schedule a campus visit through the university website, where the program page also lists degree requirements and sample course plans.
