AA/AS in Architectural Sciences and Technology

The AS in Architectural Science combines architectural technology with design studies. Students gain grounding in architecture, landscape design and urban planning, preparing them for varied design careers. Coursework teaches students to design, model and present projects using current standards, including parametric modeling software. The curriculum frames the field as cultural, creative and technical work with social impact, and students may specialize in one area or sample several. The degree is meant to prepare graduates to serve as architectural technicians or designers within architecture, engineering or development firms. Recommended electives include blueprint reading, design and model construction, building codes and the history of architecture, though these supplement rather than replace the core courses. Details here reflect the 2026-2027 catalog, and students should confirm current requirements with a Ventura College counselor before enrolling.
