BA/BS in Chemistry

Chemistry majors gain solid command of chemical synthesis, measurement techniques, reading the research literature, computer-based methods, and explaining science to others. Career paths lead to industry, high school teaching, and government science. Two degrees are offered. The B.S., certified by the American Chemical Society, suits students headed to further study of chemistry, or of pharmacy and medicine and related areas. The B.A. leaves more room in the schedule for those pursuing teaching, law, health professions, or business. Majors take lecture and lab courses designed just for them and can begin research early in their studies. A committed advising team, including a career advisor, supports cohort-style professional development. Prospective students may contact the chemistry advising team to discuss either degree.
