AA/AS in Fine and Studio Arts

The Art program at Waubonsee Community College offers a studio-centered environment for students who want to develop as artists or transfer toward a higher degree. The college is accredited by the national association for art and design schools and belongs to a state higher education art association. Students can blend courses from several interests or concentrate on a single area. Studio instruction in drawing and painting involves one-on-one refinement of technical skills. Other areas include graphic design and digital illustration, photography, and ceramics. The coursework combines theory with technical practice, giving students a base for creating original artwork. Transfer guides help learners plan the move to a four-year institution. Students are encouraged to explore multiple media before settling on a focus, which helps them assemble a varied portfolio for transfer or personal development.
