Wayne State's bridge certificate in world history prepares teachers, current and aspiring, to cover world history from middle school through university. It responds to rising demand for teachers in the field.
A bridge certificate gives specialized knowledge that can later count toward a designated master's degree. The coursework-only format has no thesis or capstone, so it also suits lifelong learners who are not ready for a longer master's program. Those already admitted to the history master's, the public history master's, joint history degrees or the history doctorate can earn it alongside their main degree.
The certificate totals twelve credits across four classes, including one graduate seminar plus three electives. Students can finish in as little as two semesters, or spread it over as many as three years, and all coursework counts toward a later advanced history degree.
