The Master of Science in chemistry is a thirty-semester-hour program that deepens knowledge in both classroom and laboratory settings. Courses include pharmacology, biostatistics and genomics, and students on the traditional track carry out an individual research project with a faculty member in areas such as forensic chemistry, biochemistry or materials science.
Concentrations include environmental chemistry and a professional science option, which mixes chemistry with business classes and a practical project or internship. Graduate assistantships are available, and a bachelor's-to-master's track lets chemistry undergraduates begin graduate work in their senior year.
Students may enroll full-time or part-time. Application deadlines are December 1 and June 1. Graduates pursue research, teaching or further study. The program also lets students sharpen professional writing and business administration skills when they select the professional science route.
