BA/BS in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering

Electrical engineering is offered at Wilkes as a major with a minor option. Students learn to use mathematical and physical principles in the design and analysis of electronic and computer-driven systems, a skill set that employers in technology value highly. The ABET-accredited curriculum covers developing, designing, testing and operating electrical systems and their parts. All engineering students share a common first stretch of math and science, and then electives open up topics such as energy conversion, microcontroller design and computer organization. Small classes and plenty of hands-on laboratory time are hallmarks of the program, which involves extensive design work and research with emerging technologies. Teaching takes place in an engineering center that was extensively renovated at significant cost and is described as among the most modern in the region.
