AA/AS in Hospitality Administration/Management

The hospitality management program trains students for work in hotels and restaurants. Topics range from cooking and menu design to daily operations, safety, buying, controlling costs, selling, guest service and leading teams. Students gain practical experience through the college's on-site restaurant, where they plan, prepare and serve meals. Job search help and leadership opportunities round out the support offered. The Associate in Applied Science combines two areas of emphasis and prepares graduates for hospitality, hotel, restaurant and tourism careers. It can also lead to transfer into bachelor's programs at area universities, and shorter certificates are available. Harper also runs non-credit food service courses, including sanitation manager training, through community education. Agreements with a number of nearby universities are designed to make moving into a bachelor's program straightforward.
