Program details

Overview

Harper's Fashion Studies program covers how fashion is created, sourced, promoted and sold. Students choose between two associate degrees, one centered on fashion design and the other on fashion merchandising. Courses address sewing, garment construction, patternmaking, textiles, drawing, store display and trend forecasting. Faculty provide supportive, constructive feedback on student work. Students can show their designs at the annual student fashion show, which merchandising students stage using looks made by design students. They can also gain professional experience at Studio V, a student-run boutique that offers locally designed clothing, jewelry and accessories. The program is a good fit for people who want a creative route into the apparel industry and hands-on practice with both production and retail. Prospective students can request information or visit the campus before applying.
