ENSTA Bretagne, part of the wider ENSTA engineering school, is a French grande école that has trained engineers for close to 300 years.

It operates two campuses, Brest and Paris-Saclay, and the generalist engineering programme leads to the same diploma on either site. About 2,350 students were enrolled in 2025-26, alongside 246 doctoral candidates, more than 200 teachers and researcher-lecturers, and a network of roughly 20,000 alumni.

Research is organised into units covering applied mathematics, mechanics, information science and computing, physics and applied optics, chemistry and processes, and the humanities, economics and social sciences. The school also hosts 27 joint chairs and laboratories with industry and 13 research laboratories.

Admission to the generalist engineering cycle is mainly by competitive exam, including Mines-Ponts for preparatory-class students, while specialist engineering cycles in defence and security, embedded systems, naval architecture and pyrotechnic systems use either exams or file review, some by apprenticeship.

The school also offers Masters, doctoral study, specialisation cycles, continuing education and distance learning, and welcomes international students through partner double-degree agreements, exchanges and free-mover applications.
