Associate Degree in Theatre Arts (Full Time)

At Barbados Community College, training for the stage runs through the Associate Degree in Applied Arts – Theatre Arts, a two-year route giving students a solid grounding in both Caribbean and classical theatre traditions. Training covers acting, creation, organisation and the management of theatre projects, building skills students can apply across school, community or commercial settings, with the ultimate aim of professional-standard competence. As with the College's other performing-arts majors, entry is through audition and interview: applicants prepare a theatrical monologue of roughly one to two minutes, performed live so staff can assess stage presence and technique before admission. Students may come straight from secondary school or from entirely different backgrounds, as long as they can demonstrate the proficiency level the programme sets for new entrants.
