Post - Graduate Diploma in Gerontological Nursing

This postgraduate diploma at Barbados Community College is designed for registered nurses who already hold a general nursing qualification and want to specialise in caring for older adults. Rather than repeating basic nursing training, the programme adds focused clinical knowledge in gerontology on top of what students have already learned. Graduates are prepared to deliver care specifically suited to the elderly, working alongside doctors, social workers, and other professionals as a full and equal member of the health and social care team. The qualification is intended to open doors across a range of settings where older people receive support, from hospitals and clinics to community and residential care environments. Because the programme builds on an existing nursing credential, applicants are expected to have already completed generalist nursing education before pursuing this specialisation in gerontological care.
