Program details

Overview

This Economics program studies how choices and incentives shape society, covering topics such as pricing mechanisms, financial systems, and the effects of policy. It can be completed as a Bachelor of Arts, which lets students focus more on people, policy, and society, or a Bachelor of Science, which goes further into data, mathematics, and modelling. Sample courses include environmental economics, contemporary economic issues, urban economics, and international trade. Students can add a co-op work-term option for workplace experience, pursue an honours program with one-on-one faculty mentorship for research-focused study, or take study-abroad terms. Delivery is on campus at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. The program suits students aiming toward analytical roles in finance, government, or business, since it builds skills in problem-solving and decision-making that graduates apply in careers such as financial analyst, data analyst, economic policy advisor, actuary, or investment analyst. The BA/BSc split lets students choose a more quantitative or more policy-oriented path depending on their career goals, while the honours option supports those aiming at graduate study in economics or a related field.
