Overview
The Political Science program at Algoma University leads to a Bachelor of Arts, with a four-year Honours option and a three-year option. The curriculum examines political ideas, institutions, and actors, covering concepts such as power, sovereignty, democracy, and globalization, and gives significant attention to Indigenous content, treaty relations, and the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, reflecting the university's location on a former residential school site. Students choose a specialization in International Relations, Canadian Government and Politics, or Political Thought, and may combine the major with the Law & Justice program. Fourth-year Honours students may complete an independent Honours Essay.
