The Bachelor of Applied Computing (Co-op) is a three-year Bachelor's degree at Algonquin College focused on modern software development, following industry best practices for designing, developing, and maintaining secure software solutions across a range of technologies and platforms. Coursework covers programming, software design, secure development practices, software engineering, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, alongside complementary courses in mathematics, communication, and ethics that support students' technical and professional skills. In the final semesters, students complete a capstone project, developing software solutions for real-world problems in a format similar to the work they will encounter after graduation. The Co-op stream integrates two four-month paid work terms into the three-year degree, giving students structured industry experience alongside their academic studies. The combination of technical coursework, applied project work, and co-op placements is intended to prepare graduates for careers in professional software development.
