Overview

The Bachelor of Education (After-Degree) at Ambrose University prepares students to teach elementary school (kindergarten to grade 6) in Alberta. It is a 60-credit cohort program offered through either a fully on-campus traditional pathway completed in two years, or a blended pathway combining online and face-to-face learning over two and a half years. The program includes 18 weeks of practicum and field experience spread across all four semesters, beginning as early as the second semester, in partnership with Calgary-area school divisions. Coursework covers the foundations of school life and applied field experience, including reflective synthesis of that experience. The program focuses on designing learning experiences suited to students' strengths and supporting learners from diverse communities. Graduates are certified to teach any age level in Alberta and can work in public schools, First Nations communities, inclusive and multicultural classrooms, or Alberta-accredited international schools. Admission requires a completed bachelor's degree of at least 90 credits with a strong liberal arts component and a minimum GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale over the last 30 credits.
