Requirements

Admission Requirements: The Bachelor of Science, Architecture Major has open admission for the general-interest route: applicants need only be 16 or older, with no fixed GPA, transcript, or portfolio required, consistent with Athabasca's institution-wide open-admission policy for most undergraduate programs. Applicants whose first language is not English must still meet Athabasca's general English language proficiency requirement (IELTS Academic 6.0 overall, TOEFL iBT 80 with a minimum essay score of 20, PTE Academic 59 with no skill below 51, Duolingo 105 with no band below 75, CAEL 60, or MELAB 80, or exemption via 15 transferable credits). Students who instead want the Architecture Canada/Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Syllabus Diploma must separately meet RAIC's own minimum entry requirements, apply to RAIC by one of two annual deadlines before registering courses at AU, and submit letters of reference and an admission essay through RAIC.

Application Details

Application Deadline: Athabasca University's undergraduate degrees, majors and university certificates admit on a continuous, rolling basis for both domestic and international applicants: there is no fixed application deadline, and most individualized-study courses start on the first of every month provided registration is received by the 10th of the prior month. The university's published admissions information does not distinguish international timing from domestic. The one fixed-cohort exception among this institution's programmes is the Post-LPN Bachelor of Nursing, whose September 2027 intake takes applications from Sept. 1 to Nov. 15, 2026, with all supporting documents due by Nov. 30, 2026, for both domestic and international applicants; the Post-RN Bachelor of Nursing, by contrast, remains open/rolling with monthly starts. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
