Architectural Engineering at the University of Waterloo leads to a Bachelor of Applied Science in Architectural Engineering, at the undergraduate level, offered only as a co-op program. The curriculum combines engineering analysis with architectural design, covering structural systems, building science, sustainability, and green building technology, with design studio courses in every term. Students spend their third year of study at the School of Architecture in Cambridge, Ontario, before returning to the main Waterloo campus. The program prepares graduates to work on the design, analysis, and operation of buildings, bridging the technical and creative sides of construction, and leads toward professional engineering licensure. Co-op work terms give students paid, on-the-job experience alongside their academic studies.
