Program details

Overview

This program leads to a Master of Divinity, completed over three years of full-time study or up to seven years part-time, with a minimum number of credits requiring in-person attendance at the Halifax campus. Students complete supervised field education placements in congregations or social agencies during the first two years, and the final year includes a graduate project and seminar. The curriculum is built around foundation courses in Scripture, theology, pastoral studies, and worship, combining required courses with a substantial body of electives, and students may choose optional components such as Clinical Pastoral Education, study of biblical languages, or completion of a thesis. The program is intended for those preparing for ordained or other professional ministry roles, though formal candidacy for ordination is not a requirement for admission, and it accommodates students whose interests and vocational goals align with the program's broader ministry-formation purpose.
