Overview
The Master of Arts in Religious Studies (Thesis) is offered by the Department of Religious Studies in the Faculty of Arts at McGill University. It is a research-intensive program in which students complete original thesis research, with two optional tracks: a Bioethics option that combines coursework, a bioethics practicum, and a thesis addressing questions in healthcare research, policy, and practice; and a Gender and Women's Studies option for theses that engage with gender, women, or feminist issues. The School is affiliated with the Montreal Diocesan Theological College, the Presbyterian College Montreal, and the United Theological College. Students may receive external and internal funding, including support for research-related travel such as archival research or fieldwork, and for disseminating research through conference presentations. The program develops critical thinking, literature review, and scientific communication skills, preparing graduates for doctoral study or professional roles.
