Overview
The Certificate in Arts and Science is a one-year, 24-30 credit-hour credential for students who want a broad introduction to the arts and sciences alongside Briercrest's biblical studies core. Required coursework includes two Bible courses — Introduction to the Old Testament and Introduction to the New Testament — plus six to eight elective courses chosen from disciplines such as anthropology, biology, business, chemistry, classics, computer science, economics, English, fine arts, geography, history, Indigenous studies, kinesiology, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, religious studies, sociology, statistics, theatre and theology. Classes are small and discussion-based, combining biblical and theological study with courses in English, Philosophy, Social Sciences, Fine Arts and Mathematics. Students can continue directly into a Briercrest degree program after completing the certificate, or transfer their credits to another Canadian university. The certificate also includes experiential learning through internships and service-learning opportunities.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a high school diploma with a minimum average of 65 percent in five approved grade 12 courses, including a grade of at least 60 percent in one academic English course, and must complete the College Application Portfolio. Applicants must also be a professing and practicing Christian who commits to the Briercrest Statement of Faith and the college's Student Responsibilities and Expectations; the Admissions Committee may grant conditional acceptance to applicants who do not meet the academic requirement.
