Trades - Apprenticeship in Railway Car Technician Apprenticeship

The Railway Car Technician Apprenticeship was developed by Canadore College with industry stakeholders and leaders in the rail sector. In-school training covers workplace safety, diagnostic techniques, computer operations, regulatory interpretation and job estimating, preparing apprentices for roles such as service or parts manager, equipment purchaser, operations manager and section foreperson. Delivered full-time at the Commerce Court Campus, the program runs across three levels; each level is an eight-week, full-time block of 30 hours per week, totalling 240 hours of in-school instruction. Successful completion of all three levels makes graduates eligible to challenge the Ontario Certificate of Qualification exam. New intakes are accepted monthly. Enrolment requires an active registration as a signed apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario, and applicants should confirm eligibility with Skilled Trades Ontario before applying.
