Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology

Cape Breton University's Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology examines human cultural systems and evolution through the discipline's four core sub-fields: socio-cultural, linguistic, physical, and archaeological. The curriculum is built to challenge students' assumptions about their own traditions and ways of life, drawing on faculty research in medical anthropology, historical archaeology, evolutionary anthropology, language revitalization, and Mi'kmaw studies. Students develop the ability to design and conduct independent research, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, and apply an understanding of global human cultural diversity to their career choices. The credential is offered within CBU's Bachelor of Arts degree. Graduates pursue work in community leadership, cultural resource management, health promotion, management consulting, and policy development and implementation, applying anthropology's comparative, research-based perspective to roles across public, non-profit, and private sector organizations that engage with diverse communities and cultural practices.
