Overview

The Local Government Administration Certificate gives you a broader understanding of local government in BC, develop new skills, and learn from local government leaders and colleagues. Once you graduate, you'll have improved skills as a staff member, manager, leader and change agent within your organization.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Domestic entry requires either BC secondary school graduation (Grade 12) or the permission of the program coordinator. The defining programme-specific condition, stated on Capilano's calendar entry, is current employment with a municipality, regional district, First Nation government, improvement district, or a supporting agency — this certificate is built for people already working in local government. Applicants educated in a language other than English must meet Capilano's general English Language Requirement, referenced on the programme page: IELTS Academic 6.5 overall (no band below 6), TOEFL iBT 83, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 56, or Duolingo English Test 125+ (no sub-score below 115). No minimum GPA, portfolio, or interview is stated.

Application Deadline: Domestic and international applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC: the domestic application fee is $50 CAD and the international fee is $135 CAD, each covering up to two programmes.
