Overview
The Financial Planning Professional Post-Baccalaureate Certificate is for people who work in financial services, have a degree and want to earn Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) or Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ (QAFP™) designation.
This five-course program will take four terms to complete, with the capstone course completed each Spring term. The program is offered part-time and is designed for people who have a degree and are licensed in one of the following:
- Life Insurance - Life License Qualification Program (LLQP)
- Mutual Funds and Securities - Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization
- Registered Mortgage Broker - BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA)
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution; the programme page states no minimum grade average beyond degree completion. Applicants must also hold an active professional licence in one of: LLQP, MFDA, IIROC, or as a Mortgage Broker. English language proficiency, where education was not completed in English, is met by TOEFL paper-based 560 / internet-based 83 (or an overall score of 4.5 with no section below 4.0 on the redesigned scale, currently accepted alongside the former scale for this programme), IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, CAEL 70, PTE Academic 56, Capilano's own EAP 100 and 101 courses each completed at a minimum B+ grade, or completion of the equivalent level through an approved Pathway Partner institution.

Application Deadline:Domestic and international applicants both apply through EducationPlannerBC: the domestic application fee is $50 CAD and the international fee is $135 CAD, each covering up to two programmes. Capilano University publishes no university-wide application-opening or closing date for either group for the 2026-27 cycle; its how-to-apply pages instruct applicants to check the application and document deadlines on their chosen programme's own page, since every programme sets its own intake window there. Admission is effectively rolling at the institution level, governed programme by programme, with some programmes (for example the Health Care Assistant Certificate) publishing a fixed intake window that opens and closes months ahead of the start date. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
