Overview
Computer Science Technology is a three-year technical Diploma of Collegial Studies (DEC, program code 420.B0) offered by Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles at its Gaspé campus or through distance learning, with admission each autumn only since fall courses are prerequisites for winter sessions. The six-session curriculum covers programming (scripting and object-oriented and graphical-interface design), database management, web development, network deployment and analysis, mobile and native application development, video game development, cybersecurity and system administration, combined with general education requirements. Students build Android applications and, where available, work on real projects for outside companies using actual servers and lab infrastructure. In the final session, students choose between an eight-week workplace internship or an application-development project. Admission requires a secondary diploma with at least fourth-secondary mathematics, with fifth-secondary technical or natural-science mathematics preferred. The program suits students aiming at careers as IT technicians, programmers, web developers, network administrators or database technicians, or who plan to continue into university programs in computer science or engineering.

Admission Requirements: Admission to Computer Science Technology follows the cégep's general collegial admission requirements: a Quebec Secondary School Diploma (DES) or Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP), with Secondary 5 Language of Instruction, Secondary 5 Second Language, and Secondary 4 Mathematics completed. The programme's own admission page adds a particular mathematics requirement: Secondary 4 Mathematics in the Technico-Sciences or Sciences naturelles sequence, or Secondary 5 Mathematics in the Culture, société et technique sequence. Instruction is in French, satisfied through the Secondary 5 Language of Instruction course above; no separate French- or English-language test score is published. No portfolio, interview, or additional selection step is described for this programme.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through SRACQ (Service régional d'admission au collégial de Québec) for programmes starting in 2027: the Fall 2027 intake has a first-round deadline of 1 March 2027, with further rounds on 1 May, 1 June and 1 August 2027 filling remaining seats; the Winter 2027 intake closes its first round on 1 November 2026, then 1 December 2026 and 2 January 2027. International applicants outside France apply through SRACQ from 1 September 2026 and must complete their file by 1 February 2027 for Fall 2027 entry, after which no international candidate can be admitted; Winter entry is offered only to French citizens, who may apply until 1 May 2027 for Fall or between 15 May and 15 October 2027 for Winter 2028. Admission is not indefinitely rolling: each round carries a firm cut-off, though later rounds absorb whatever seats remain. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
